UPDATE FROM OUTGOING CHAIR ANNE HARPER
Hello everyone!
At our recent A.G.M. I stepped back from the role as county chair. It has been an honour and privilege to hold this position and help to develop all areas of netball in our wonderful county. It is so important to keep striving to improve every aspect of our game. Players, officials, coaches, volunteers and the all-important parents and carers, together play such an important role.
I would like to thank your county committee members who are vital in keeping our sport ticking over and gaining momentum. Without them netball in Norfolk as we know it would grind to a halt.
Most of their roles and responsibilities are carried out unnoticed by the majority of people in our netball family. I suspect that, like you, I have been following The Roses on their journey through The Commonwealth Games tournament. All attention has been focused on the elite players at the top of their game. However, we must not forget our grass roots players, officials and coaches who too deserve the chance to play, umpire and coach in a safe, encouraging and enjoyable environment.
Within our county committee I have had incredible support from the Executive group. Mandy as your President, Sheelagh as your Vice President, Sue as you Treasurer and Karen as your Secretary. Without their wealth of knowledge and guidance my role would have been far more difficult. I truly thank all of you.
We have to say, " Goodbye," to Lorraine who has decided to step down as tournament lead. Lorraine has done a superb job organising and running the 3 county tournaments. Sadly, she has not always received polite emails from disgruntled teams! It's disappointing that there are still some people who are always quick to criticise but never willing to offer anything in return.
Thank you so very much Lorraine.
Shelly has also stepped down as our Competition lead. Shelly has done this job for a very long time. She has also been the North Norfolk representative and plays the lion's share in running netball leagues in her area. Many thanks to you Shelly.
There is always someone who has made an outstanding contribution to the running of the county. In recognition for their never-ending commitment. I have created a 'Chair' award to be presented annually for 'Outstanding Contribution'. This year a wonderful person has been my, ' go to,' lady. She is always super polite in emails, highly professional and is always there when I need her. She has been my rock. She has kept me in check and on my toes. I would like this award to be presented at every A.G.M. by the Chair. It is named the Anne Harper Award for outstanding contribution to N.C.N.A. The recipient this year goes to our Secretary, Karen Mobbs. I call her Poppins as she is, 'practically perfect in every way!'
Although I have stepped down as chair, I am still going to be involved doing other things. Unfortunately. we were unable to find someone to take on the role as chair, so in the meantime, Dawn Bullimore, who has recently been made an Honorary Life Member of Netball East, has volunteered to be our interim chair until we can find a replacement.
Keep your feet firmly on the gas everyone to ensure Norfolk and Dawn continue to be such an amazing netball family.
